Transport for London (TfL)
TfL was created in 2000 and works in partnership with London's boroughs
to provide the safe, integrated, accessible and efficient transport system
London needs in order to grow and prosper. TfL is responsible for the bus,
tram, tube and Light Rail network in London, as well as a 580km network
of main roads, river transport, taxis, community transport services and
the Congestion Charging scheme. Since 2007, TfL has authority over some
heavy rail services. TfL's annual budget is around £4.8bn, of which
£2.6bn comes from revenue (including fares) and £2.2bn comes
from government grants. It also receives £20m in funding from the
GLA. Of this, around £160m is allocated to the London boroughs to
help deliver local transport improvements. For further information, visit
