LEPT is a partnership coordinating European transport issues for the local authorities that exist within Greater London. This work has three main strands:
•
Improved information exchange, both in terms of learning more about the activities and working practices that are going on around Europe, and disseminating examples of good practice that are already being implemented in London
•
Increased participation in EU projects, and management of existing projects.
•
More involvement in the EU’s decision making process for transport policy and legislation
A key aspect of LEPT will be to improve lines of communication and increase dissemination activities between London boroughs and key European stakeholders. We hope to continue creating concrete links between the members of LEPT and municipalities, NGOs and other significant actors from the expanded European Union.
LEPT will:
•
Allow a coordinated approach to European project work
•
Provide an efficient process of two-way communication between the relevant stakeholders in London and Europe.
•
Provide an effective management structure that allows Boroughs to maintain their individual interests and issues whilst benefiting from an overarching objective to promote London within the EU.
•
Coordinate future package bids for funding through the appropriate bidding processes, both locally and internationally.
