The London European Partnership for Transport (LEPT)
was established in 2006 as a new partnership to coordinate, disseminate
and promote the sustainable transport agenda for London and London boroughs,
in Europe.
The work of LEPT has three main strands
•
Improved
information exchange, both in terms of learning more about the activities
and working practices that are going on around Europe, and disseminating
examples of good practice that are already being implemented in London
•
Increased participation
in EU projects, and management of existing projects.
•
More involvement
in the EU’s decision making process for transport policy and
legislation
LEPT aims to improve the level of communication, cooperation and investment that exists between London, London Boroughs and the European Union. Furthermore, to increase the levels of participation and involvement of London and the London Boroughs in European Project work relating to safe and sustainable transport.
LEPT's key objectives are:
•
To allow
a coordinated approach to European project work
•
To provide an
efficient process of two-way communication between the relevant stakeholders
in London and Europe.
•
To provide an
effective management structure that allows Boroughs to maintain their
individual interests and issues whilst benefiting from an overarching
objective to promote London within the EU.
•
To coordinate
bids for funding through the appropriate bidding processes, both locally
and internationally.
